The government considers making a referral against senior judges in an election delay case.Rana Sanaullah claimed that the three judges in the case of the election delay have a lengthy history of issuing anti-PML-N judgements.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's petition for an election delay is currently being heard by Bench Number One of the Supreme Court, which is presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial. The government has begun contemplating filing a judicial reference against this bench. (PTI)The government's stance follows the three-judge bench's decision to continue with the proceedings after hearing the PTI's request for a judicial order for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, despite demands from the PDM-aligned parties for a full court bench.Imran Khan, the party's leader, ordered the PTI to dissolve the province assemblies in Punjab and KP in January of this year in order to call for early elections.

Following the top court's directive to the Pakistani Election Commission on March 1 to conduct elections in the two provinces within 90 days of the dissolution of the two assemblies, or by April 30, tensions have risen. However, through a law known as the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure), the coalition administration sought to limit the CJP's discretionary authority for taking suo motu notice.
