Truth-based tale of an animal on a drug-fuelled rampage is gonzo-horror fun until The brilliant thing about naming your movie Cocaine Bear is that, let's face it, many of us will be sold right away. On the other hand, there is a persistent feeling that the project may have peaked with the title, or at the very least the real-life significance of it. A drug smuggler's parachute failed to open over the Tennessee Blue Ridge mountains in September 1985. The majority of his 300lb shipment of cocaine vanished. But weeks later, when the medicines were discovered half consumed by a local black bear, that fact became apparent.the buzz wears off
Jimmy Warden and Elizabeth Banks create a riotous gory horror comedy about what might have happened in the gap from this important piece of American history.
